Tuesday Trouble...

Tuesday’s here and I’m taking a few minutes to post this quickly, at the speed of light, if I may exaggerate. I will get back to my regular schedule of elaborate posting and maniacal commenting soon, I promise. Once, I am back from my vacation. There is a lot to be done before I leave unfortunately, which leaves me with little time. For now, all of you can whet your appetites with my lovingly brought up and patiently nurtured post-its!!!

Just enough time for a Monday Minute...

Monday Minute

I am posting this at breakneck speeds as I do not have a lot of time today(God! when will this crazy streak end?...loud wailing)  but do not want to suffer from withdrawal symptoms if it doesn't go up! To get addicted to this awesome questionaire just scoot to Ian's Blog.

1 - What drugs have you done in your life?

None. I am sooo boring. The only drug induced high I have ever felt was a slight fuzziness when I consumed large quantities of cold medicine!

2 - A/S/L?

25/f/undisclosed...for security reasons

3 - Do you pick your nose?

Ummm…seeing as to how I am not so popular, let me not give more reasons for people to run away from me!

4 - What's your favorite childhood cartoon

Tom and Jerry…especially the parts where Tom is getting beat up!

5 - List the URL, of what you believe to be the best blog post you've ever done
Rain ... this is one of my initial posts and takes me straight back to my childhood. I love this post especially, as it has so many pleasant memories attached for me, and came straight from my heart.

Life is Good...especially when you get an award!!!

Yay…I have snagged an adorable award and been tagged by the lovely Alice @ Alice in Wonderland who is one of my favourite bloggers and writes the most sumptuous poetry. I must admit this is the second time she has given me this honour and I am pleased as punch, tickled pink, delirious with joy…you get my drift. But, not so delirious that I cannot post about it and announce it to the whole wide world.
Now, as with every tag and award there are certain sweet conditions attached, for what else can they be if not sweet. I have to answer ten simple questions and spread this joy amongst six other bloggers.

Ok, here are my answers to Alice’s questions:
If you were a Disney cartoon character, who would you be?

Minnie Mouse with her long eyelashes and tomboyish attitude.

Sweet or Savoury?
Savoury, I do not have much of a sweet tooth. I love dark chocolate though!

If you could spend an evening with anyone, fact/fiction, living or dead, who would you choose?
I would love to spend an evening in the company of the haughty Mr Darcy and teach him a thing or two about attitude!

Plane, Train or Automobile?
Train, because it’s the most romantic. Sheesh  I can’t believe I admitted that!

Picnic or Cinema?
Picnic, lazing on a warm blanket with a book for company.

Cat or Dog?
Definitely Cat.

Book or D.V.D?
A book, always!

Long hair or short hair?
Long hair. There is no mystery to short hair.

Favourite T.V. Show?
Friends and now the Big Bang Theory.

First Band or Artist that you followed?
Maybe, Norah Jones. I have never followed anyone particularly but I have always loved her music.

It’s easy peasy see?  Now all I have to do is come up with ten awesome questions of my own and pass this award on to six of my favourite bloggers.

My Ten Questions are:

  1. Favourite fictional character?
  2. What or who would you like to be born as in your next life?
  3. Is there anyone in your life with whom you share all your secrets?
  4. What was the most embarrassing nickname you were ever given?
  5. Who is your favourite Friends character?
  6. Tango or the Ballet?
  7. Blind date or Speed dating?
  8. A home cooked meal or eating out?
  9. Favourite movie?
  10. Last thing you do at night?
Now, I simply love this part. I am tagging

Hootin’ Anni
Grandma Yellow Hair

Now, all you have to do is answer my questions and paste my award. Then, feel free to concoct ten questions of your own and pass them and the award to six others.

A little time on a Tuesday...

I have started to sound like a one track record with my constant rants about being unbelievably, frustratingly, annoyingly, going crazy with busyness, busy. Nevertheless that is the sad truth and there is no escaping it. Sorry, if I have not been able to visit and comment on all of your blogs as frequently as I usually do. The only reason you are seeing this post today is because it was already scheduled in advance.

So this is how my Post it Tuesday will roll which I am linking up to the ever so ingenious Supahmommy…go to her blog if you find this irresistible and want to do something similar…

Monday Morning Madness...

Monday Minute

Following Ian’s checklist, creepy picture- one, Monday Minute- one, answers to crazy questions- five. There may be a new button from next week onwards so I would like to pay homage to this familiar and endearing image. Here are my answers to this week’s questions. If you like talking about weird stuff and are not conscious answering questions of a revealing nature Ian’s blog is the place to go!!!

1 - Ever take a shit in the woods?
Not in the woods no…but out in the fresh air yes. Once, way back in the days when I was  a wee child and visiting my mum’s native village and it was a village in every term of the word. I was merrily learning how to  swim in the stream when I had to do my business and my grandma asked me to do it there, in the sand. After staring at her for a complete minute to make sure she was serious, I did!

2 - If you won $1,000, what's the first thing you would do with it besides give me a cut?
I would probably blow it all on books, books and more books after giving you your cut though.

3 - What's your favorite phrase?
Out of my mind…back in five minutes. It describes me to a t.

4 - Fill in the blank - the world would be a better place if ______ left the planet.
Paris Hilton with her sickening smile and her ‘wows’ and ‘cools’ oh and dirty politicians too!

5 - How do you take your coffee or tea?
I like my coffee black and steaming; better still if freshly ground.

Fast Forward to Friday...

Is Friday already here? Just like the girl in my story today I cannot decide if I should rejoice that its Friday or freak out at the total memory wipeout zone, that is my mind. I seem to have no recollection whatsoever of events between Monday and today. All this work is taking its toll on me, and causing me to age before time. Next thing you know I’ll be doing double takes in front of my mirror, making sure it’s not a gray hair that I just spotted.

To even think of all the work that I need to get out of the way before I leave for my vacation leaves me in a apoplectic state. I’d rather pull my nails one by one compared to the dull and slow torture that is my work, at times…no I take it back…I had forgotten about my low pain threshhold. Don’t get me wrong…it’s not that I hate my job or my work, in fact, I could not be happy working in something else. My work requires me to write, which is according to me is the most suitable profession for me. Its just that scary, looming deadlines and repetition takes the fun out of it sometimes.

Anyhoo, enough of my petty complaining. Let’s get on with the most important item on today’s menu which is my Friday Flash 55…To learn more about this or participate go to the awesome g man

She had gotten used to seeing him there everyday, on the same spot as she walked to the bus station.
She was almost sure it was her he waited for.
She was surprised at the feelings that she was feeling.
Should she be scared or excited that she had bagged her very first certified? stalker!

Have a great weekend guys!!!

Wednesday Relief...

I have been tagged by the wonderful Alice who I am absolutely in awe of, because of her beautiful poetry, to play this rather fun game where I have to tell you seven things about myself which you don’t know yet. I can see a lot of possibilities here, with this becoming a sort of a regular feature. For today though, I am going to stick to revealing the not so serious side of myself as it is a…yes…Wacky Wednesday…I could definitely do with some more of these…Okay here we go:

1) I fell down a long flight of stairs and broke my arm when I was small and, wait for this, my dad managed to stay busy with his work through the entire thing though he was present in the same room. And me being his eldest born too...

2) I was crazy competitive at one time and even pushed a girl off the stage in our annual day function during a dance recital because she was trying to steal my part. Yes that’s me your own Carrie!

3)I like the smell of gasoline which I don’t know qualifies as wacky or not but anyways.

4) I have to have all my things in the place where I last left them…I cannot breathe, truly, if my stuff gets misplaced. And, I have a LOT of stuff...

5) My nickname means knowledge(self satisfied smirk)…do I even have to say anything more?...don't you dare laugh

6) I can finish an entire jar of pickle(mango) in one sitting and even land up in the hospital for this so called feat…

7) I have passed out in the laps of strangers more than once…not on purpose mind you!!!

Now if some of you good people decide to play along with me all you need to do is post seven new things about yourself and pass it on to seven others. Simple isn’t it?

I am tagging

Have fun!

How not to make your career choices...

As I have wimped out of taking part in Ian’s Monday Minute I am undergoing intense withdrawal symptoms. It is totally addictive, I am telling you; taking part in his crazy but interesting meme week after week. However, as today’s topic is sex, prude that I am I have decided not to do it(no pun intended) and instead post about something else. Something that will give you a further glimpse into my wonderfully neurotic character. While doing research for my work

Sidebar: this excuse has served me well on a number of occasions when I was doing anything but working at work.

I stumbled upon this thought provoking analysis of what my career choice should be according to my Ruling Number i.e. according to numerology. After having gone through a painful process of calculating my ruling number I made the amazing discovery that I am a number 4. This is what the calculation looked like if you are even remotely interested(and yes my name IS that long)

1+1+5+1+1+8+9+5+5 1+9+5+7+8+1

Now, the amazing prediction which had me giving full rein to my vocal denial:

4s treasure bringing their down-to-earth natures into fields that require attention to detail -- after all, two-time Nobel Prize laureate Marie Curie studied radioactivity for the better part of her life! 4s are also often athletes, due to their preference for a repetitive schedule, and that 4 brand of discipline makes for great accountants, bankers, financial planners, engineers, architects, landscapers and tax lawyers. 4s are also attracted to jobs in organizational and management positions.

Let ME analyze this is detail. Attention to detail? My ability for paying attention to details could give competition, if not totally beat Paris Hilton’s ability for the same. I’d rather not pay any attention to details if Marie Curie’s sad and scary end is anything to go by. I hear she died due to exposure to radioactive materials for most of her life. A fat lot of good it did her, paying attention to details.

I am also supposed to make a good athlete. Okay, just give me a moment to recover from the massive amount of derisive laughter I am laughing. I am as much as an athlete as Tiger Woods is a faithful, committed husband. The most physical activity I undertake in a day is dragging myself from my bed to work and back home again. I would rather go hungry than leave my couch to walk the 10 steps to the fridge.

It also says that I will do good in a profession that allows me to work with numbers. THAT is an outright lie and I am suing these people for mental and emotional harassment. Oh the pain and fear that Math has caused me throughout my childhood. Just this one thing was enough to blight my entire student life.  My mum and dad actually prayed earnestly, everyday, that I would pass in this one subject. I was okay at the rest, but this weakness of mine overshadowed all my other achievements. So I will be an accountant or banker with flourish, when pigs will fly in the clear blue sky.

Now, the last option I can live with, as it says I will do well in organizational and management positions. I am willing to go ahead with this for the simple reason that this will allow me to organize things for my sole benefit and comfort. Isn’t that what good and efficient management is all about?

Fridays still leave me frustrated...

This is regrettably one of those days again when I barely have time to stop and take account of what’s going on anywhere else apart from my work…this is starting to become a d—m nuisance! Anyways, all you guys have a nice weekend and hopefully I will have more time next week to go visit each one of you and give you my undivided love and attention.

My Friday Flash 55 is here and those who want to know more about this should definitely go to the amazing…drum rollg-man

'Sara’s mother heard her heartbreaking scream coming from the kitchen
She rushed with her heart beating loud, regretting allowing her child anywhere near a hot stove. The scene that met her eyes left her bewildered…
Sara had climbed up on the kitchen counter while some new born kittens were mewing on the floor near her.’

Marching to a popular beat...

It seems I’m all for following the trend lately. But can you really blame me when I see people around me doing all kinds of creative and interesting stuff which begs to be taken part in. So here I go with my first Post it Tuesday the idea for which came from the awesome Samantha at Apple Juice and Milk and the oh so talented Supah Mommy whose clear instructions made this a piece of cake for someone as technically challenged as me.

Things are extremely sloppy here so do forgive me all you Gods and Goddesses of blogging as this is my first post it Tuesdays post. I promise I will get better with time just like a good wine. In my defense for someone as technically challenged as me even to attempt this was a mammoth task and involved many a tear of frustration and profuse sweating!!!

A Brand New Monday Minute...

Here we go again, why do we have to wait a full week before answering Ian’s thought provoking, sometimes crazy weird but always interesting questions! Here’s this week’s Monday Minute courtesy of Ian the Funny. Rush to his blog if you want to know more about this or participate in it, a decision which will be taken In Delirium no doubt.

Monday Minute

What's wrong with fake breasts?
Nothing at all. It’s totally upto the individual. If someone wants people to speak to their chest that’s their prerogative. I guess the only downside to this would be that, they would never have the chance to experience deep meaningful conversations with their sweetheart looking soulfully into their eyes. You know they would be busy staring someplace else…

List your latest run-in with the Carnival of Idiocy.
I guess this could refer to two things, Ian's post by this same and recently when I had to cool my heels for a considerable amount of time while a brat of a schoolgirl refused to remove her car from the middle of the road where she had parked it to get something from a shop. No amount of honking horns and raised voices could budge her. I have never seen someone so oblivious to others' and in such a zen- like state of mind.

Name one thing you'd like to tell your ten year ago self.
I would like to tell my ten year old self to go out and have some fun for God’s sake. I was too serious for my own good even if I say so myself. If I had made some efforts to open up to people and go out a bit maybe I wouldn’t be the socially handicapped idiot, klutz, dolt I am today.

What's your favorite word that's not in the dictionary?
PROUDY : this word is used quite frequently to my amazement by tweens, teens and adults as well to describe someone who is proud. It has me in splits for some weird reason every time...

Why do fools fall in love?
Because they make a habit of falling in stuff… so it’s just a force of habit with them you see.

Friday Frustration…

The weekend is already here and I’m not prepared( loud wailing ). I have so much work to get done today its not funny. A weekend for me can never be enjoyed in its true spirit unless you start to get into the mood for some serious relaxing before the weekend actually starts. Okay, to put it simply, I don’t like working on Fridays or for that matter on any other day. I ask God (very dramatically) sometimes, ‘Why God? why wasn’t I born in the house of an oil-rich sheikh or the daughter of a fabulously wealthy rancher in Australia?’ After giving some thought to my own question, I came to the conclusion that God knows I would still have found some reason to whine and maybe said something like this, ‘Why God why wasn’t I born into a more intellectual family or into a more loving family no matter if it was mice-poor or something to that effect’. I am indeed a great one for complaining. I can do it loudly and under my breath, indirectly as a caustic comment or taunt and even when I’m sobbing uncontrollably between hiccups. I'm sure there is something deeply annoying about my whiny tone that get's on people's nerves. I do it purposely to annoy people. And, its not fair for me to work on Fridays or on any other day of the week. There I have already started feeling so much better, lighter in spirit and ballerina like in my movements. Enjoy your weekend you guys…

My 55 is here which I am linking to the g-man as usual…

Your love was silent, true and strong
Shown through your eyes not your words
Drenched me in warm sunshine
But left me shivering when it was gone.
Flowers in the month of May
Remind me of that one shared glorious day
My heart kept beating long after that
But its rhythm was melancholy and sad.
